Preparing my Vitamins.

The countdown is down to 19 days until my surgery. The time is going by quickly. My protein drinks I ordered will arrive tomorrow. I purchased all my vitamins today for when I return home from surgery.

I believe I have my bases covered for when I return home from the hospital.

I am one step closer to being ready for after my surgery.

Getting Prepared!

Well, it is now 22 days until my surgery. I cannot wait! Thinking ahead about my soft food and liquid diet I will need to follow post-op, I ordered the NUTRiBULLET so I can prepare my meals with that and also stay healthy and keep my family healthy as well.

I only have one week left of eating anything normal for quite a long time so I made my list of about 3 thinks I wanted to eat before I can no longer have them.

1.      A Starbuck’s Latte’
2.      Mongolian Grille
3.      A Juicy Steak.

No Turning Back now!

There is no turning back at this point. I purchased my round-trip airline ticket for the specified dates and times requested by Dr. Kelly instructions.

My weight today was 233.4 and it is only 23 days until I have surgery. I never thought I would be this excited, but the thought of losing all this excess fat and being thin again is such an encouragement.

I cannot wait to be thin again!

Here are the two pictures my 6 year old daughter took of me today so I could post the real me I have not let anyone see in a very long time.

Hiding in plain sight.

The countdown begins. There is only 24 days until I have RNY surgery. I have had numerous questions on forums why I am choosing RNY over VGS since I only need to lose around 100 pounds. The number one reason . . . type 2 diabetes. RNY Gastric Bypass surgery gives me a 95% chance of my diabetes disappearing.  Check out these two articles about discoveries . . . http://forecast.diabetes.org/magazine/research-shorts/cutting-out-middleman-another-benefit-gastric-bypass and http://azstarnet.com/news/science/health-med-fit/gastric-bypass-can-control-even-reverse-diabetes/article_615a258e-5beb-5630-8839-abc780aef252.html

I will admit, I was happy to come home from helping my parents after my father’s surgery this summer rather than going to visit my family and friends as I did not want them to see me this heavy. As it is, I already avoid the camera and post no pictures of myself so they cannot see how large I have become.

The thought of not having to hide from the camera any longer or avoid going to family functions or holidays so people cannot see how fat I am is a very comforting thought.

Working out the details.

Today was a busy day. I weighed myself for the first time since being home from my parent’s house and my current weight today is 233.6 pounds.

I signed my financial agreement with Dr. Ramos-Kelly and I have been contemplating everything I need to do before I leave so I do not have to do anything when I return home.

I will begin working on my preparation checklist this weekend so I do not forget any detail of what needs to be done before and after my surgery.

It seems unreal that my surgery date is only 3 ½ weeks away. I cannot wait to be thin again.

I Have a Surgery Date!

Today, I booked my surgery. I will be having RNY surgery on August 19, 2013, in Tijuana, Mexico.

My surgeon is Jaime Ricardo Ramos Kelly M.D.

Until I spoke with my cousin, Cindy Lee Bess, who is 10 years post RNY surgery today I was a little nervous about scheduling my surgery date. I had read one woman's account of her surgery that didn't seem all the great to me from another Doctor and I was beginning to get cold feet.

Once we were finished talking this morning I called Dr. Kelly's office and scheduled my surgery date with Lora.

Since Dr. Kelly has great reviews and come highly recommended I feel confident in his surgical abilities and I am looking forward to my journey.

And the Journey Begins . . .

After 4 fours of complaining to my doctor and trying every diet available, I found a forum called Obesity Help.( http://www.obesityhelp.com) and joined. It was through the others there I discovered other options available to me through self-pay to have weight loss surgery and by going to Mexico for the procedure it is affordable.
